Privacy policy
TapTask · Last updated 30 July 2026
TapTask is a task manager for iOS. This policy explains exactly what it stores and where. It is short because the app collects very little.
What is stored
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple, Google or GitHub, we receive an account identifier and, in most cases, an email address. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address.
- Your tasks. The text of each task, its description, its position in the stack, and whether it came from Linear or was typed. Landed tasks and generated daily summaries are kept so the flight log can show them.
- When your free trial ends, and whether your account has been given free access. Nothing else about billing is held here — see Subscriptions below.
That is the entire list. TapTask has no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party trackers of any kind. Nothing in the app profiles you or builds a record of how you use it.
Where it is stored
Account and task data are held in Google Firebase — Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Access rules restrict every document to the signed-in account that owns it. Google processes this data as our service provider; see Firebase's privacy documentation.
Linear
Connecting Linear is optional. If you connect it:
- Your Linear access token, or personal API key, is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is never sent to us and never leaves the device except to Linear itself.
- The app calls Linear's API to read the title, assignee and status of issues you reference. Nothing is ever written back to your team's board.
On-device intelligence
TapTask can download a language model — about 240 MB, from huggingface.co — which then runs entirely on your iPhone. It shortens imported issue titles and writes your daily summary. Your task text is never sent to a model server, ours or anyone else's. Deleting the model in Settings removes it from the device.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We never see your card, billing address or any other payment detail. Apple tells the app only whether an active subscription exists.
Your data
- Landing or cancelling a task removes it from the stack. Clearing the flight log removes the stored summaries.
- Settings → Delete account removes everything: every task, your flight log, your daily summaries, the record of your trial, and the account itself. It is immediate and cannot be undone. You do not need to ask us, and there is nothing left for us to keep.
Children
TapTask is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
